UK Holiday Parks

This summer more and more of us are planning to spend our holidays somewhere in the UK and with there being no end of holiday parks to choose from all over the country, it is hardly surprising that there are some great deals on offer.  Holiday parks continue to be popular despite the fact that a lot of us have been holidaying abroad over the last few decades.  However, with the economy in such a bad way, holiday parks in the UK are making a comeback.  If you are hoping to have your holiday here in the UK this year, you may be wondering where the best places to visit are.

Where did Holiday Parks Begin

Holiday parks started out in some of the main seaside towns in the UK such as Skegness, Blackpool and Great Yarmouth and the aim was to provide holiday makers with a place to get accommodation, food and entertainment all in one place.  A Great Yarmouth holiday park or a holiday park in Blackpool for example, was a really popular choice with families back in the sixties and they have continued to be a popular with more and more holiday parks popping up all over the country.

When holiday parks first appeared, it was very expensive to travel overseas and the chance to have an affordable holiday in a place where other families were staying was something that a lot of people jumped at.  When the price of flying abroad dropped in the seventies and eighties, holiday parks in the UK took a nosedive.  With the opportunity to head off to sunnier climes and to experience another country, the holiday parks had nothing to offer in comparison especially when the food and drink was often so cheap in foreign countries.

Making a Comeback

Over the last decade or so, holiday parks in the UK have started to make a big comeback.  They are no longer considered to be budget accommodation and they are now offering fantastic value for money with fabulous accommodation, top notch entertainment and plenty of activities for the whole family.  In fact, many children will list a holiday park as the best holiday they have ever had.  This is because there is so much for them to do every day.  They never have a chance to get bored and when the children are entertained, the parents are happy.

Best Holiday Parks

There are holiday parks all over the UK and they all have plenty on offer.  A lot of people will choose to look for holiday parks in the South of England in the hopes that they will get the good weather.  However, some of the older sites are still going strong.  For example, you could choose a Great Yarmouth holiday park or look for something in Blackpool and you will have a fabulous time.
